Solar objective: Domestic Hot Water & Photovoltaic collector array
The Dodd family wanted to reduce there carbon footprint, make reductions in there energy costs and also make a wise financial decision for the future.
They wanted to install a solar thermal domestic hot water system and chose a SOLFEX energy systems CPC INOX 18 vacuum tube collector due to the geographic location of the lake district with potentially more cloud cover and the ability of this collector to absorb more diffuse light, this will provide up to 60% of the annual domestic hot water demand for the whole family, producing 1574.77 Kwh annually.
Capital costs of £ 400.00 were covered, additional annual payments of £ 285.00 from the renewable heat incentive are guaranteed tax free for 20 years.
The remaining roof area was practically filled with a 4KW photovoltaic array, 20 x SOLFEX energy systems Kioto KPV 200PE, Q cells were fitted on to a Sun-Grid on roof mounting system, It was fitted around existing Velux windows and illustrates the adaptability of the system.
A £ 2500.00 grant was gained to cover capital costs, additional annual payments of approximately £ 1650.00 will be kindly received tax free, guaranteed for 25 years courtesy of the feed in tariff whether we export the power back into the grid or use it ourselves.
